You already know what Youtube Shorts are, if you don't, let me explain: Youtube Shorts are short-form; up to 1 minute videos, presented in a scrollable manner, in a similar fashion to TikTok. They are hosted on Youtube, not on a separate website. italic
Pre-Shorts Youtube had already an established ecosystem, of creators mostly Mid/Long-Form content, with a bit of short form content, gaining views and subs mostly healthy, mostly because there was clickbait, subbaiting, and other shenanigans to unfairly get subscribers, but the damage to the ecosystem was not that strong, as after 2021: the year when youtube shorts were launched.
Youtube Shorts are on the same website, as i mentioned early, so the Shorts Ecosystem and the Normal Youtube Ecosystem are shared, in theory it should have been fine, since shorts are supposed to help creators, but there is a problem, Firstly shorts can give creators too many subs, mostly from people mindlessly scrolling, and not quite interested in actual content of the person, Secondly: There's creators which exploit this system: mainly uploading shorts, exploiting this feature damaging the ecosystem, and lastly: it inherently damages the ecosystem: since you can upload some shorts, and get subscribers, without making actually good content
The ideal solution is simple: Get rid of them, influx of short-form content doesn't belong at youtube. But the more pragmatic solution would be punishing people for uploading too many shorts
Ecosystem: "The community and culture of creators, sharing and creating content".
Mid-Form: "Content in lenght of 5-30 minutes".
Long-From: "Content in the lenght of 30 minutes to 10 or more hours".
